Frequently Asked Questions
- Does Clickwheel Pay for Content?
- Yes, but not ALL content.
- While Clickwheel at large runs on a service provider model, which is to say, we provide you the tools to
promote and distribute your content via iPod and iPhone, we simply can't pay every creator and keep the site
sustainable. It's just a fact of life.
- However, we do believe in promoting and rewarding the very best, and do commission exclusive work, for
which we pay a flat, agreed upon, rate for a set amount of work. We are proud to be one of the few places
where cartoonists can make money simply by creating a great comic. You need not worry about page views or
ad sales, or whatnot. You do quality work and we pay you, it's that simple.
- Of course, getting to that point isn't quite as simple, and we run things much like any publisher would,
which is to say the editor selects the commissioned work, and works with the creator(s) to bring the work
from concept to finished piece.
- Depending on the circumstances and the creator, the commission may be a collection of existing work formatted
for download, comics done exclusively for Clickwheel, a combination of the two, or a completely original work.
- How do I get in on this?
- Exclusive comics are at the discretion of the editor, so if you feel you have a piece that is of professional
quality, put together a pitch and email it to tim'at'clickwheel.net for consideration, or better yet, sign up for
an artist's account at Clickwheel if you do not already have one, and post some work for the editor to view and
email us the link.
- We will also be recruiting work the old fashioned way by searching for talent, and in many cases, simply having
a killer comic on Clickwheel that updates with a decent amount of regularity will get you noticed, and have the editor
emailing you asking for ideas.
- All submissions will be read, considered and replied to, though in some cases this may take several weeks depending
on the volume of submissions at any given time.
